I partnered with product and engineering to lead the design of the Formulary Management tool within Judi, a healthcare platform by Judi Health, enabling our Formulary Operations team to efficiently create and manage formularies for partner healthcare organizations.

Our Formulary Operations team was relying on a third-party platform, RxFlex, to perform their jobs. This was costly for the business and cumbersome for our pharmacists, significantly increasing their workload. Our challenge was to build a tool within Judi that not only matched the functionality of RxFlex but also improved upon it by providing a clearer, more streamlined workflow.

We created a unique, intuitive tool to serve as a reliable platform for all formulary operations within Judi, providing user-friendly capabilities for formulary creation, management, and peer reviews.





Process

Discovery
Being new to the pharmaceutical space, I started by diving deep into formulary management—how it works, who’s involved, and where the pain points lie. Through interviews and discovery sessions with our Formulary Operations team, I learned how formularies are created, maintained, and approved, and identified challenges with existing tools. These findings highlighted a need for better customization, efficiency, and usability.
Experience Mapping
Using insights from our discovery, I created detailed journey maps and user flows to visualize the end-to-end process of formulary creation and management. These maps identified opportunities to streamline workflows and improve visibility into formulary changes.
Wireframing
I translated the flows into wireframes and mid-fidelity screens to define structure, layout, and interactions. This stage focused on clarity and usability—establishing information hierarchy, navigation patterns, and the logic behind key actions like creating, editing, and approving formularies. Through iterative feedback with product, engineering, and our stakeholders, I refined the concepts to ensure feasibility while maintaining a seamless experience.
Prototyping
To validate the end-to-end experience, I built interactive prototypes that simulated real workflows. These prototypes supported usability testing sessions and stakeholder reviews, helping the team gather feedback early and often. Insights from testing informed refinements in navigation and workflows, ensuring the final experience was efficient, transparent, and aligned with user needs before handoff to development.
High-Fidelity Designs
Building on the validated wireframes, I developed high-fidelity designs that aligned with the Judi Health design system for consistency and scalability. These designs introduced visual hierarchy, accessibility considerations, and an intuitive guided experience for managing formularies.

Outcome
We successfully provided the essentials of RxFlex within a unique experience in Judi within our 3-month deadline. We focused on user-friendly design over one-to-one replication and ensured Judi could serve as the single, reliable tool for formulary operations. Early feedback from users has indicated a high level of satisfaction with the tool, and a significant reduction in the time it takes to create and manage formularies

Reflection
Tackling a complex, unfamiliar domain pushed me to learn quickly and design with empathy. Collaborating closely with cross-functional partners and learning from those who have experience in the industry was key to my success.
